Megaplex 13 at the Ogden Junction is hosting a Harry Potter Premiere party on November 18th, from 5:00 to Midnight, including free admission to the "Hogsmeade" village of wizarding shops and restaurants. There will also be events and activities that you can pay extra to participate in such as Wizard Chess, House Sorting, etc. - see the theater's website for details. As I understand, the paid Premiere Party events are Thursday evening only, but the free "Hogsmeade" village will be open Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday during theater business hours.
Muggle Wandmaker will be there, of course. Most of the wizard village shops will be upstairs in the conference rooms, but I'll be down on the ground floor, just south of the main entrance with over 200 wands, including jewell-handled wands, exotic and domestic hardwood wands, and mini-wands. I'll also have my lathe set up and be demonstrating how a muggle makes wizard wands. This is your last chance till next summer to come design your wand, watch me turn it, and help me sand and finish it.
I'll also be hosting some chances to win a wand. We'll be having drawings to participate in "Who Wants To Be A Wandmaker" - a multiple choice trivia game where each question doubles your discount on your wand - get 8 right in a row for a free wand; and also a dueling club - a rock-paper-scissors type tournament (Expelliarmus, Stupefy, Protego) where I'll fill a bracket of 16 people, and you'll duel, single-elimination, two out of three rounds per match, until one person is left standing, with the wand they have chosen theirs to keep (Up to $20 value). There will be a $1.00 entrance fee to the Dueling Club, but every participant gets $2.00 off the wand that chose them, if they're eliminated.
I will be there on Thursday from 5:00 to midnight, Friday from 2:00-Midnight, and Saturday from noon till Midnight. Who-Wants-To-Be-A-Wandmaker will take place every even hour till 10:00 PM, with three names drawn each time, and Dueling Club will take place at 3:00 for kids under 12, 7:00 and 9:00 for all ages. I am set up to take payment via credit card, cash, or check. Sorry, no galleons, sickles, or knuts – I am, after all, a muggle.
See you there! And remember, the wand chooses the wizard.
